Charles A.E. Harriss

Charles Albert Edward Harriss (16 or 17 December 1862 – 31 July 1929) was an English then Canadian composer, impresario, educator, organist-choirmaster and conductor.
In 1897, Charles Albert Edwin Harriss married Ella Beatty-Shoeberger, daughter of John Beatty, Esquire, M.D., Professor of Sciences in Victoria University, Cobourg, Ontario., and his wife,
Eleanor Armstrong. Ella was born and educated in Cobourg, Ontario. In 1883 she married her first husband, George K. Shoenberger, Esquire, of "Scarlet Oaks," Cincinnati, one of the "Iron Kings" of Pennsylvania (he died 1892). After Sir John A. Macdonald's death, Mrs. Harriss purchased and occupied "Earnscliffe," a Victoria Manor house which had been his former place of residence at Ottawa, Ontario. She served as President of the Woman's Morning Music Club, and other official positions of that character.〔Morgan, Henry James Types of Canadian women and of women who are or have been connected with Canada : (Toronto, 1903) ()〕
